What jobs do children have and do?

Children helped with farming, crops, animals, and younger children, in the peasant society. Children in the town helped work as apprentices for their father with his job. Noble girls were taught by their mothers how to grow up like a noblewoman. Children in the least important society had chores everyday. I think children right now are lucky if they don't have to work. But we still have chores today.

Older children(about 10 yrs) had to take care of the younger children. Most children didn't live because of disease, but some did. after working kids would play with each other. They have lots of games we have now, like hopscotch and leapfrog. Children of the Noble work on the job the father has. The girls would were taught to be a housewife and learn to care for the family. I think we are very lucky that we don't have to always follow our fathers job and the women can have their own business.

What was the common to high class jobs?

The least important in society was the peasants; they made up 90% of the population. Peasants had to grow food and raise live stock. Children helped and did chores. Some lived in town or small cottages. Knights are the next level up in society; they use weapons and ride horses. They lived in the cold, drafty castles. The castles were built for defense and not comfort. We don't have castles now because we have houses and we have a united country, we have no violence. The United Sates doesn't need castles because we are a free country and don't need to defend our country.

The next level of society is nobles. They were richer and lived in the castles. In the picture, the tenants-in-chief is just like Nobles. They help rule and work in the  castles. The top is the king, and the government, they make decisions and rule over their people. The king with nobles gives protection. Boy! We are lucky we don't have a class system, things just wouldn't be the same!

What was the life excpectancy for people?

Birth was done in the mothers bed at the home. For every 1,000 births, 14.4 are maternal deaths. Caesaeean sections are preformed if the mother died; the child is exctracted from the womb with a hook if the child died. At the age seven, girls, and boys became more responcilbe and must do tasks. Boys help men with farmwork while girls helped with the  house work and younger children. Most people died from diseases. I can't believe they died that young!

Girls got married in their late- teens and early twenties. Boys married in their early twenties. Once someone has reached the age of 20-30 this means they can live up to 60 and passed the highest sussectancy to diease. Our people in our time now can live longer than 60. People usually die where they were born(at home in bed) They were placed in a coffin and buried, just like people now.

What was the life style for women?

When girls were sixteen, they usually were married and was a mother by then.  And aren't we glad in our time now we don't marry that young! The women sometimes had their own business, just like lots of women do now. The mothers also ran the house hold, not the father. Some girls and women worked as artist, doctors, and also rulers and more. They achieved as leaders in their community. A big job for women in the Middle Ages, they had to feed the family. The women in our century now also feed their family, but other can too.

The babies were breast fed. Women were in charge of health to their family and servants. The birth of a baby was done at home in the mother bed. We are very glad that we have advanced technology to be able to give birth at the hospital and we have pain killers. If the mother died, a Cesarean section was preformed to have the baby. The child is extracted from the womb with a hook if the child died. Young girls were trained to become a house wife. Young girls now are not trained, they go to school like boys would, they also could have jobs as teens.

Did children go to school, if so at what age?

Young children spent their childhood playing with toys, messing around and being a kid. At seven the children learned and studied. They also had to work on chores. At twelve to fourteen, the children were now young adults. They had to work. It wasn't until the 1200's the schools to teach peasant children were finally made. School masters advertised so children would go to their school and pay with their money. School masters tried to  have more children and people come to their school so they will earn more money. The more academical the children are the longer they will stay in school and get a better education.

Children played games like puppets, they also play with each other and hop scotch. They played with balls and leap frog. The children also had to help work in the town with their fathers business. Some children who's father is a wood carver, the job of the children would pick up scraps off of the ground. Children in the medieval times followed the jobs that their father had.
